Everyone feels overwhelmed at times. Our Open Door calm space hosted by CPSL Mind provides somewhere to go if you need a bit of space and tranquillity.
The first few weeks of starting university can be overwhelming and it can be an adjustment to get settled again after a summer off from studying. Join us for our first online Open Door calm space session back this trimester to find some calm and learn techniques which can reduce stress and anxiety.

In this session you will have the opportunity to practice techniques such as mindfulness and share your own experiences with fellow students.

These sessions offer a place to find guidance on self-help techniques which can help you to ‘ground yourself’ and feel better- both in that moment and in the future. Each week covers a different theme and offers techniques to manage wellbeing.

Open Door calm spaces will start promptly and you may not be able to join once the session has begun, this is to prevent disruption of the calm space.

“CPSL Mind ask that everyone can agree to the following:

This is an informal online space; please ensure you only share what you feel comfortable sharing. We ask that you don’t record this session. If anyone states anything that causes us any concern in terms of Safeguarding, risk or criminal related activities then we as an organisation have a duty of care to follow that concern up with the individual that stated it. If we feel that you are at risk of harm to yourself then we would need to refer you to the University Wellbeing service (aru.ac.uk/wellbeing). This is not mental health crisis support and if you are experiencing a mental health crisis you can seek support from the First Response Service by ringing 111 option 2 (if you are based in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough). If you are experiencing a mental health crisis a member of our team can contact you after the online group has finished.”

We will ask for your feedback in the form of a short poll at the end of the online session which we encourage you to take part in, however this is not mandatory.

Please be aware that other participants may be able to identify you from your display information and anything you choose to share on screen or verbally.

ARU will not be providing your personal data to Mind.

If a Cause for Concern is shared with ARU by Mind, ARU will handle your Personal Data under our Privacy Policy.
